To anyone who is having trouble installing HP LaserJet Pro 400 M451nw Color printer, try going through the menu to disable SmartInstall. That should solve any problems you have.

Excellent small footprint HP LaserJet Pro 400 series, fast and dependable. fully compatible with mac osx, windows and ethernet networking. also has wireless capability, but hard wire if possible, as wired is faster, less problematic and easier to configure and support.

Exceptional printing speed and the JetDirect network functionality worked very well on Linux, the printer was automatically detected over SNMP, and no drivers needed to be installed. Photo quality is far superior to the previous inkjet printer this replaced.

This is an HP LaserJet Pro 400 Color very nice. It connected quickly and I never have problems printing, even after turning it off while my computer was on. In the past, I had to make sure my computer was off before turning on the printer for the computer to recognize the M451nw printer. Not any more. The colors are vibrant and no smudging as you would expect from a laser printer. I've printed about 25 pages so far and I'm not out of ink with the intro kit of ink.

Pros and Cons this HP LaserJet Pro 400

Pros:

• This is much more convenient printer because it can be placed anywhere in the house (a big plus for me).
• Connectivity to the network is very easy and I can print on it with any device on the network, including my iPad, iPhone and other laptop computers.
• The print quality is very good, better than the more expensive HP 400 MFN 475dn I had earlier.
• Cartridge usage is fairly efficient and I had no ink issues.

Cons:

• Does not print duplex automatically. Duplex is possible but only manually - which is effectively too much hassle and impractical. If this feature is important, you need to look for M451dw, which is $50 bucks more expensive.
